has this ever happened to anyone before?
so i finally got a car charger for my phone, since i always forget to charge it at home, and i plugged it into my front socket, and it worked fine....i was in the car for a couple hours, and when i got out, i noticed my phone wasn't charged at all....so i go back in my car, and plug it in...it doesn't work, and the red light on the actual charger was not illuminated....so i plug it in the back one and it works....crap....i thought i needed a new fuse, but for the time being i thought i would use the back one, since it seemed to be working....well....i got back in the car again some time later, and now the back one wasn't working....double crap...so i run over to autozone and get some fuses, replace them, and try again....no luck...i also tested other people's chargers and got the same results....is it possible for a charger to completely blow out both of my sockets like that??? is there anything i'm overlooking?

hold your horses guys, this might be an internal problem, i know when i changed out my headunit, my cigarette lighter connection came undone, if he has had his headunit replaced or even that panel by the shifter takein out for some reason, the wire might not be connected, i have herd of this problem even with directionals not working bc the hazard wire came undone when that panel was removed and it didn't complete the "circuit" for the directionals, try another charger like was recommended, if this doesn't work, try looking into this connection problem, good luck
I could be wrong, but I believe that is the way it is supposed to be. Our cars have an auto cut-off mechanism to prevent draining the battery. It doesn't matter if you have the key in ignition and/or turned on. The only way to keep the power running to the socket is to have your engine running as well. I remember reading it in the manual.
Just out of curiousity, but did you get a automotive power adapter or an automotive power charger/adapter for your phone? I'm no expert by any means, but in the past I have had adapters that will only feed power to your phone in case the battery (on the phone) dies, and I have paid extra for adapters that will also charge your phone battery as well. Could you please clarify which you purchased? I very well could be wrong, but from your description I assume you have just the regular adapter.

yeah that happened to me too, i had blown a fuse then i replaced it and it still didnt work- switched the charger to a better one, replaced the fuse again and it worked. At first i was using a crappy dollar store one my friend gave me, which caused the problem.
Sorry I didn't read the whole post, but I have had the same problem. The fuses kept blowing and I didn't know why. Come to find out it was a defective car charger. Blew fuses in my moms 350z and my girlfriends altima. Try using it in another car and see what happenes.
This has happened to me with some adapters - in particular a DC to AC converter. At first it worked great, then stopped. Moving the adapter to different angles made it work again, then it would again stop - finally quit working all together, while other adapters would still function.
Don't know what the problem is - somehow it seems the adapter stops mating with the socket... Anyway, I switched to another adapter and it works fine.
