New Battery?
New Battery?
Hey guys...I've never had any problems with my stock battery but I was noticing how most of the Maximas of the Month and other modified Maximas have Optima Red Top Batteries and other aftermarket batteries. I now have plenty of things connected to my negative and positive battery connections such as grounding kit, sub and amp connections, HID kit and I feel like the RPMs get a little higher when I have all this stuff on as if the battery is struggling altho the car still starts fine and everything and no lights are dimming. Would a new battery such as the Optima Red Top help give power to all of my accessories or is it just a cheaper alternative to OEM replacement?
I didnt think the Optima was cheaper than the OEM or other brand Battery. I know the optima has a deeper cycle than a regular battery, and they last a lot longer. Most people use them if they have big systems on their cars. Its worth a shot if you have the money to spend.

The main advantage of the Optima is the fact that they are spill proof. The acid is in a different medium, i think its called an absorbant glass mat. Anyway, here in the desert, leaky batteries are a problem and is the main reason I use Optima in all my cars. I got tired of having to replace winshield washer fluid tanks and power cables that had been ruined by acid.
Also, the Optima typically last 3-5 years vs. 1-2 years for a conventional battery in the extreme heat.

General rule of thumb with an Optima is that if you are running a system, it is highly advised to upgrade to an ORT. If your system is greater than 400W, and which one isn't, get an OYT. You can get one for $140 shipped. I just upgraded to the OYT, and WOW, what a difference. The car starts a bit faster, and the windows roll up a bit faster, electronics a illumintaed a bit better...it's well worth the upgrade.
...and anyone willing to contend this with me will surely be shot down by any fellow OYT user.

I usually play music in my car before I head to class...I always go early becuz of parking...and when I finally find a parking spot, I turn off the car but keep the radio+accessories still on....its usually like this for a good 15-20 minutes before its time to head to class.....been doing this for almost 8 months now on my optima red top and the car fires up in half a second each time I start it....couldn't be any happier with this battery...for reference, I do have a Blehmco grounding kit paired up with my optima redtop

it looks awesome in the engine bay too!
