My advice: buy a loaded 2003. You get the 3.5, leather, Navi, Bose (though there's some to be desired there), auto A/C, ect. Oh, and get a stick.

Don't be asking here 'is this a good deal :russ" on here. Do your own research, threre is an intraweb outside of the org .. Such as www.kbb.com www.nada.com, and google.

that was about what mine was at the dealer before negotiations, mine was a loaded GLE. if you are lookin at a private sale, it should be much cheaper.

Ok, well in that case .. I'll add to the "that deal sucks" committee.

I had a chance for a loaded (everything + Navi) 6MT 02 for $18000, with only 8200 miles on the clock ... and this was exactly a year ago.

I see this turning into one of those "do your research and don't get screwed threads.

Dealerships always ask more, because they like to negotiate, even though at times I think its a waste of time, because typically, you can walk out, and the stupid as.s salesman will follow you like a lot puppy.

www.autotrader.com is a good place to start.

Ask for less than book and work your way up, and set a limit. Use internet resources(not just here) to compare prices etc ..

Make sure you know more about the car than the dealer(if you do in fact go with a dealer) .. believe me, it's not hard to do surpass their knowledge.

You'll always find a better deal, you only have to look, and look good.

i wish i had negotiated better. everything he said is correct, unfortunately, i told my dealer exactly what to get, color scheme, options, etc, so they had me by the *****. they knew i wanted that car bad, and i wanted it more than they did, plus when i showed up after my salesman called me, there was another couple lookin at the car. 2 strikes against me i coulda done better, yeah, but im happy!

To an extent you have a point, depending on what dealer you shop @ you would be suprised on how smart they may or may not be.

Also If you are looking for a car, and you find what you like as long as you can justify spending your $$ on something you like, can you really get a bad deal ??

when you are doing your research online remember that all of the websites like nada or kbb, do not sell cars so use them as a guideline! Dont walk into a dealer with your hand full of research, you might as well use it to wipe your A$$ !!

I have been working with nissan for 11 years, and do this for a living most people buy a car every other year, My dealership does about 150 a month
(almost 5 a day ) My point is if you find something you like set a price that you are comfortable with and roll with it !

Yay for the salesman talking .. Anyone can get suckered into a bad deal....

I've been driving a Maxima for x years does that count ..

We really don't care how long you've worked with Nissan,(or at least I don't) fact is, many Nissan/Car dealers in general don't know much and at the same time, try and sell ..

In which case, why buy from someone that doesn't know much if anything about their product?

I, and most people on here do not buy a car every other year. Only the people with too much $$ that really don't know much about cars do, and just buy another one to get a new warranty etc so they can sleep better at night.

Not if you can find a better price ... I usually give up when I get tired of looking, and that takes months .. and months ... depending on what type of deals I find.

Where do you buy a car from then ???

It seems like a lose-lose situation for you, i would just stop looking @ maximas and buy a tiburon!

Not a dealership .. Typically private party, or I get pre-approved by credit union, and go find what I want, dealership or not ... tell the slaesman to take a hike, and let me me look and I'll let him know when I'm ready. This helps keep them at bay while they sit there and tell me "facts" of the car .. ...

Tibouron ... , so does that mean Nissan salesmen know about Tubourons more than Nissans ...

It means whatever you want it to,

Not everyone is a member of a C.U. And never a private party you dont know what you are buying ( not saying that you always do @ a dealer but odds are in your favor @ dealer) When you buy private party you have to inspect, and possibly repair on top of what you paid for the car for , too much hassle

whichever way you decide to go (NISMO) good luck !
