I think its "wiNter" wheels question.... since he's asking about steelies.

CFoley - make sure they fit around your brakes. I thought 16s were the smallest we could go.

Puppet is correct. 15" is too small.

That comes as a surprise to me... but hey, if he says it works for him, then take his word for it and not mine.

Btw CFoley, I saw some threads discussing the very same thing here: http://forums.maxima.org/forumdisplay.php?f=71

Might wanna check those out for more opinions as well...

5.5 gens have slightly larger diameter front rotors.

The OEM rotors are different sizes on the '00-'01 & '02-03. 15" wheels will not fit without modifications to the calipers.

First off, I do know this thread is wayyy old, but I really need this answered.

Just to clarify this, are we agreeing that 15" wheels WILL fit 2000-2001 Maxima/i30? That is what I need to know. Please and thank you! B-)

According to RockAuto rotor sizes:

95-99 Maxima/I30 fronts: 279.8 mm diameter
00-01 Maxima/I30 fronts: 279.8 mm diameter
02-03 Maxima/I30 fronts: 296 mm diameter

So unless there is a difference in caliper or caliper mounting, then I believe 15" wheel should fit my 2001 Infiniti I30. The reason is because I have brand new 15" Continental winter tires that I want to use. But if we could get concrete confirmation, that would be great for me and for the information archive.

15" wheel will fit, but it is and will be somewhat dependent on 'spoke' or wheel design as well as offset and width.

Thank you for that! I was beginning to think I wouldn't get anybody chiming in.
Would you by any chance happen to know of what specific 15" wheel(s) will work? I would preferably be looking for steel wheels but if some cheap alloys fit then I can def consider that as well.

Thanks again,
Jesse

Don't want to be psychotic, but why not keep the stockers? I rock my OEM SE 17's in the winter without much of a problem (120+" snow/season) on dedicated snow tires.

I assure you it's not because I like the look of 15" wheels haha.

Why then? I have brand new (half season old) Continental ExtremeWinterContacts that are 15" that we used on the Maxima before it got wrecked. As they were not too cheap, I don't want to lose money by reselling them and I would love to use them if I can fit 15" wheels on the newer I30.

Thanks

BTW, where do you get 120" a year in snowfall? Surely not New Mexico! In Duluth we get a bit less than 100" a year usually, but since we live on a hill mostly, it can get rough especially when your DOT doesn't like to react quickly.

Yeah, mountains here get hit fairly hard. End of the season totals are more likely around 75" in and around the area (from 7500 - 8000') so I was exaggerating a bit ( more puff than anything, as in less H2O per inch of snow)

And ya, I got ya, you already have the tires and don't want to sell and get new ones. I see.
