Headlights Suck aughhh
#1
Took My new max on a trip over the weekend, on dark roads there is a definite cut off of light about 20 yards out. Total darkness after that. I was afraid to go over 60 mph.
Is this just the way they are or is there an adjustment.
Service manual says you have to see the dealer.
BTW, the brights are hugely bright, I was being blinded by reflection from road signs.
A great car in the daytime, took it to 120 and it felt solid.
Sorry if this topic has been covered before.

BTW, I'm not night blind or anything, I have a Probe GT that is great low or highbeam. These lights are just funny. I get a real good view of foliage along the road side and tree tops with my brights.

are you using the stock bulbs in the headlights? b/c some aftermarket bulbs really suck. nice and "HID" "Xenon" and whatever look, but you can't see anything on the road with them. if you get aftermarket, make sure you get brand name ones... personal experience with generic (toucan/eurolite) suck.

get HIPER brand
i have a pair of the HIPER brand xenon lights and they look blue , but the light that come out is WHITE, and they've lasted me for around 7 months already with no problems, but during the rain, they suck really bad, thats why i leave my fog lights stock, they work better. I know it looks nasty and ugly to have white headlights and yellow fog lights but as long as i can see during the rain and be safe thats what matters.

AGREED!
I like the Color too ... too bad they are worse than stock when it comes to OUTPUT of light!
Oh well ... that's where OUTPUT oriented FOG light bulbs are for!

PIAA
You can get a whole slew of PIAA and Catz Headlamps at www.autobulbdepot.com. H-4's for the Headlamps and h-3's for the foglamps. You will have far less complaints on glare.

I have not found a legal PIAA in my research. However, I am using Sylvania XtraVision headlights in my car and I find they are much better than stock. Sylvania claims they are 30% brighter than normal headlights. I find they provide a longer and wider field of vision than the original headlights. They run about $18.00 per bulb. Try 'em out.

I have the PIAA Xtreme Whites... fookin BRIGHT!
they seem to have a much stronger and longer beam.
when i have my fogs turned on with my headlights... forget it, it's Xtremely bright.
i'll try to get a pic of the beam tomorrow.
(actually, brb =O )

Most of the PIAA line are SAE certified, but there is only one 50 state legal bulb to my knowledge that is the Platnium Whites. In Florida the only ones who get harassed for bulbs are the fake aqua blue ones that have a muddy look, these bulbs usually sell cheap. Xtremes are bright and sweet, just wish they had a tinge more purple as the Super Plasmas color looks closest to Xenon offerings.
