is there any real advantage to getting it?
i'd like a bolt on power mod, and i'm reading mixed results with the OSCAI. the real CAI i can't afford right now.
so the question is whether the k&n panel filter has any real performance advantages over a regular fram?

Just filter for filter no cai or oscai....I would say yes but only in the very high RPM...but minimal...go for it! You can do the OSCAI easily enough later on...

According to K&N you'll get 2-4% gain in hp with the panel
filter, If you go with the Stillen hi flow you should gain
6-12hp...I have my panel filter from my 2K max if you want
it. I dont need it anymore since I have the Stillen piece.
Let me know, I'll be at the Stillen show on June 9th

i had both

the stillen filter makes more noise, sucks in more air than the panel, but its open and right next to the engine, so on a hot day, the performance sucks. but the panel filter is more worth it because it costs only about $40 and is easily put in, but if you are gona heavily mod your MAXIMA later, then you should go with the STILLEN intake.

I would say an OSCAI w/K&N panel filter is about even with the Stillen or JWT intake. The only differences are looks and noise level. As far as Stillens claims of 6-12hp, I think it's more like 4-8hp. I haven't heard of anyone gaining more than 10hp with any intake except for the true CAI. If I were you, I'd opt for the OSCAI and panel filter and save your hard earned cash for a RSB or y-pipe.

No one has mentioned. You don't lose low end torque with the K&N like you do with the large cones. Go for the oscai. The difference in price between a K&N and OSCAI is nominal ($10 or so).
