bad engine mounts?
bad engine mounts?
ok guys lately i have been hearing a clunking sound coming from the passenger side of the car when i go over bumps...i thought it was my coilovers but..today after i started the car in a stationary position the same clunking sound came..what are the symptoms of bad engine mounts? or is it a bushing from my suspension or something? ne input will be greatly appreciated..?by the way i have 128k on my car....
You'll hear the bad mount when you get on and off the gas while moving. If you are in a lower gear it will be more pronounced. Put it in a gear that puts you a around 3500 to 4000 RPM at around 20 to 40 MPH. Get on and off the gas a few times and you'll hear the mount banging each time.
If it does turn out to be a bad mount the Energy Suspension mounts from Cattman are a great upgrade. They really help with wheel hop and make for crisper shifts. Pretty easy install too.

The install on the motor mounts isn't hard. THere's a support beam under the motor held on by 4 bolts. It's held onto the motor by 2 bolts that go through the motor mounts. You basicaly remove the beam with the mounts and have them pressed out at a shop. Have them press the new ones in. It's a simple job, there might be a write up but they come with directions. If you've ever done any suspension work or even brakes you should be able to handle it.
