idle air control valve? clean it or get a new one?

Just got P0505 - Idle Air Control Valve malfunction.

OK I know its somewhere around the throttle body setup. Anyone know exactly where. Can I just clean this up or do I need a new one?

Oh is this it? http://www.importautoparts.com/images/g02.gif

What I heard is its not possible to clean it. It costs around $190 from Dave B. It is located right under intake butterfly.

I have replaced a few of these, and it always turns out that the stepper motor inside is malfunctioning. Cleaning them just won't work. The motor itself is not a serviceacble item, you must replace the entire assembly.

What happens if I dont change it? Besides the code the only real "symptom" I got was a high idle RPM, went to like 2K once. But thats only happen about once in the last month.

For some reason I cannot find an idle control valve online for a 2000? I want to see what it looks like and what the going rates are for it...any ideas...I google searched and checked multiple part sellers and nothing.

There is a dude in Classified forums who is Parting the whole engine. I think he has slightly used IACV for sale for around $150. I think his name is "Xerox".
Unless you need a new one.

Courtesy Nissan has them on their parts website.

Oh, and BTW, the 5.5 Gen is completely different. Electronic throttle body.
