idle air control valve? clean it or get a new one?
Just got P0505 - Idle Air Control Valve malfunction.
OK I know its somewhere around the throttle body setup. Anyone know exactly where. Can I just clean this up or do I need a new one?
Oh is this it? http://www.importautoparts.com/images/g02.gif

I have replaced a few of these, and it always turns out that the stepper motor inside is malfunctioning. Cleaning them just won't work. The motor itself is not a serviceacble item, you must replace the entire assembly.

I had this problem but it was on a 5.5 gen...the car will run "whenever" it feels like running...unstable idle...I had a time when it idled at <500rpm and the car wouldnt drive. Got my TB replaced at the dealer for $920.

For some reason I cannot find an idle control valve online for a 2000? I want to see what it looks like and what the going rates are for it...any ideas...I google searched and checked multiple part sellers and nothing.

There is a dude in Classified forums who is Parting the whole engine. I think he has slightly used IACV for sale for around $150. I think his name is "Xerox".
Unless you need a new one.
