slippage between 4th and 5th gear (manual tranny)

hey all

are any of you manual tranny's having an issue where if you are "riding out" in 4th gear and the stick just slips out of gear and the transmission also has slipped so when you press the gas all the engine does is rev and not accelerate?

it does it in 5th gear too

off course the dealer "cannot replicate the issue" as usual
they suck so majorly its not even funny

check for broken engine mounts 1st, if that doesn't look damaged or worn out- your trans needs a rebuild. Shift forks and baulk rings need repleacement- I would also do 4th and 5th gears with syncros.

if they cant duplicate it, you need to go for a ride with them. show them the problem. its that easy.

make sure your hand isnt on the shifter when its happening. i might be leaning toward a bent fork... whats the year/model?

how many miles on the car?

id lean toward bent fork/weak detent. only 4th and 5th are different forks and use different detents.

ck the motor mounts, like bbird said, but i think the jump-out would be more pronounced in 1st and 2nd if that were the case
