the sunroof switch on my 2000 GLE works but it stops every two seconds. the sunroof opens all the way but I have to keep releasing and re-applying regular pressure on the switch. what kind of problem do you think i have??? I would think it is a bad switch, but I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem. so any input would help.

 

did you try recalibrating the roof?

 

Occasionally mine will get stuck but if I mess with it long enough it work again. Try hitting the tilt buttons once it's closed. Sometimes that helps when mine's acting up (it's weird.)

 

there is a How to fix it in the stickies.... read them..... I know I seen it here....

 

I could not find it in the how to fix area. I not sure on how to recalibrate the sunroof either. Like I said it opens all the way but I have to continuously push - let go - puch - let go. it is annoying. I imagine that it could be just the switch that has gone bad, but I dont wnat to go buy a switch then that not be the problem.

 

Your sunroof is fine. Make sure you press the tilt close button until it opens and closes all the way, and it should work properly from then on.

 

If you want to perform the sunroof reset here it is:

• If the sunroof is open, press the tilting switch repeatedly toward tilt "Down" to fully close the sunroof.

• After the sunroof has closed all the way, keep pressing the tilting switch towards tilt "Down" for more then three seconds.



Thats exactly as it reads from a sunroof TSB. See if that fixes your problem.

 

No luck the TSB recomendation did not work, or I did not do it right. anyone else have any other recomendations??? I just noticed that the tilt button will also open and close the sunroof in the same way that the other "slide" button does.... weird???

 

not really. the tilt and slide functions are essentially the same as far as the drive is concerned. close the sunroof all the way, then hold the button.
