Try a different or better brand. I noticed that happens on the crappy cds sometimes.

Also try cleaning the CD player. CD-RW's are extra sensitive to dirty optics.

cd-r's and rw's are less reflectivet han a normal nonburned cd, so its harder for a player to read them cdr's arent a problem most of the time beacuse since theyre only burned once theyre pretty reflective, but cdrw's get reburned over and over so they are noticbaly less reflective and harder for players to read, even if uve only burned on them once.

cheaper cdr's n rw's are less reflective then the more expensive ones, notice how some are $$ while u can get like 100 for like 5 of the cheap ones, the cheap ones use a well cheap film thats not as reflective and can flake off inside a player, that would be bad. as it can conduct electricty and heat rather well

No it doesn't. For the 4 years I've had my car, it never once played a CD-RW and I only have Memorex here. What brands do you guys use for it to work? I really don't think CD-RWs work in 5th gens.

Please note the discrepancy between CD-Rs and CD-RWs.

I use the Maxell one made for autos. I think you just have to make sure it is either designed for slot systems or drawer systems like in home stereo stereos.

Also try burning the CDs at slower speeds. I tipically burn them at either 4X or 8X... Do not use any brush based cleaning things as they may scratch the laser lens... Best is if you can open it and spray with a cleaner and leave to dry... Brake cleaner would do too... They leave no residue...

My bose in my 01 does not and has never been able to play cd-rw's. I see one solution, use cd-r's.

Did you buy it online or can you get it at a store?

Nice, I appreciate it. Since I switched back to the Bose HU, it's bothered me that I can't play burned discs without hearing that clicking noise. I hope cleaning the lens works.

I have nav system with the 6 disc changer in the trunk. This system has had no problems with CD-Rs. However, CD-RWs work maybe a quarter of the time. I can't find a pattern and have tried using different brands and burn speeds. Only pattern found is that it seems to be the individual disk, not the burn. If a disc works once, it usually (note ususally, not all the time) works even if re burned several times. If it doesn't work the 1st time, reburns of that same disc won't work either.

Make sure the cdr is "closed" meaning you cannot burn more data to it. Some HU have problems playing "open" cdrs.

My '03 Bose plays them and displays artist and track info that an original CD does not.

I've cured my clicking problem: keeping the CDs free of scratches. The Bose HU is INSANELY **** with even the most lightly scratched CDs. Once I noticed this, I've began to make sure all of my CDRs are always carefully stored in a case -- and not a CD wallett where they WILL get scratched.

That's funny... they've been working in mine just fine for 2-1/2 years now.

You must "close" the session. The car needs to see the beginning and end of the CD, or you get errors, and it has no idea where the music is.

the reason yours doesn't work is because it the files on it are most likely MP3's, which our CD players are incapable of playing, unlike a computer.....i have had no problems whatsoever with any of my CD-RWs in the past, except for one of my friends CDs, which was an MP3 CD..

I was sitting in a parking lot with the engine off.
