I have a 2001 SE. Has anyone heard of a head unit that is compatible with the steering wheel audio controls?

Nope, if anyone can find one, let me know. I'm in the market for a new head unit, but I really love the controls on the wheel, and don't want to lose it!

I have seen some stereos that have their own IR remotes. You'd have to take the Nissan ones off, of course, but you could probably mount the new one right there. No wires to deal with since it's infrared.

Yeah I've seen them. I think that Sony makes one.

Crutchfield

Call Crutchfield. (www.crutchfield.com). I know they have harnesses that can attach to the secondary controls in a Ford Taurus, so they probably have a harness for the secondaries in the Max.

You can add any head unit with IR remote and keep the steering wheel audio controls. This can be done using the adapter PAC SW-3.
You cand find it at autotoys for about 61 dls.

If you need more details about the adapter go to http://www.go2pac.com/

I think that alpine makes a head unit that is compatible with the steering wheel mounted audio control.
