Rough starting...

searched around and most threads mention that the starter usually starts making noise before it dies. Mine is not making noise, but today it didn't start up when i remote started it. it just kept on turning as if it wanted to, but didn't. i finally stopped the remote start, went to the car, and then when i turned it on, it kicked it. Didn't feel immediately. I also only have 34k miles. Anyone care to shed some insight as to what it possibly may be.

Are you saying the car turned over excessively before actually "catching", i.e. lots of whirr-whirr-whirr?

no. it didn't catch on, so i used the remote start to shut it off. popped the hood, jiggled around the power wire a bit, then remote started again, and it kicked in.

my buddy who i trust with car tips, etc... says that since today was one of coldest days this fall season, and combined with the excessive rain we've been getting, condensation could have built up and it was a simple fluke. i got to work, did some stuff and then drove to white plains half hour later (started up immediately) then stayed up there for about 2 hours. when i left, i started it up again (immediately) and i just got back to NYC. i'll feel it out and see what happens tomorrow.

If what you mean is that the starter engaged but did not mesh with the flywheel and turn the engine over, then the pinion needs to be re-greased. Sometimes the plunger on the solenoid can stick when the weather's real cold, causing the pinion shaft not to move out and engage the flywheel properly. At least, that's how it used to be on our old cars.
