I have a 5 Gen. GLE and my factory warranty will expire at the end of the year. And I am not sure if I should buy extended warranty from Nissan or 3rd party provider.
Any of you bought extended warranty for your max for how long and how much? Plus is there any deductible involved each time you bring the max to fix? Your Pro and Cons about your experience will be appreciated.

I have an extended warranty on mine up to 100,000 miles. It's bumper-to-bumper with no deductible. If you do go for it, I would go with the Nissan warranty and not some third party. http://www.nissanusa.com/content/0,,sctid-51043,00.html

I hope they improved the warranty - I had mine at purchase, and it wasn't bumper to bumper - basically, it covered everything that didn't break before hitting 100K. All that money for nothing...

Try www.smartautowarranty.com It was the cheapest from comparing all the sites out there and I bought 50,000 mi. / 36 mo. coverage / $0 deductible / bumper to bumper ("Pinnacle" plan) for ~$1300 (covers me upto 111k mi). The guarantor is National Auto Care.
Do your homework before you buy any extended warranty from a 3rd party. Ask your preferred mechanic/shop/dealer if they will take the extended warranty BEFORE you buy it. Also, if buying from a 3rd party, try and get them to tell you which dealers in your area they have worked with before (call the claims department or ask the salesperson to e-mail you screen shots of the claims dept's database). Search on here, there are plenty of threads on it.
Do your homework before you buy any extended warranty from a 3rd party. Ask your preferred mechanic/shop/dealer if they will take the extended warranty BEFORE you buy it. Also, if buying from a 3rd party, try and get them to tell you which dealers in your area they have worked with before (call the claims department or ask the salesperson to e-mail you screen shots of the claims dept's database). I used a company called 'Universal Warrantly" out of the midwest.
Be sure you go with them, check and see what dealers or garages will accept them as first-part payer so that you don't have to pay the bill and wait for some payback afterwards from Universal.
If the garage accepts it...they can substantiate the bill and explain why you need all the repairs that are related to the primary repair (e.g., replacing a CV joint and needing a wheel alignment).

I hate to bring up an old thread, but my powertrain warranty expires tomorrow (I think). Just wondering if it is worth it. So far the car is flawless. Only quirks are that it shifts kinda crappy until it is warmed up when it is cold outside. RPM's are not jumping, so I know its not slipping, just light jerkyness. Sometimes the tc won't fully lock up until it is warmed up when it is cold outside (this barely happens since I live in cali and cold mornings are rare). I had the dealer look at this about 5 months ago, but they didn't find anything. Its not something which would be very apparent unless you drive the car every day like I do.
I have a 01 and I know the 01's are probably the most reliable 5th gen max. My personal take is that if anything fails on this car, it isn't going to be for a while. I know mafs and coils can go out, but those will probably not be covered since I only plan to get the super basic coverage for engine and trans. I remember reading that the trans solinoids are not covered under powertrain?

bump, anyone have $0.02 to share?
My tranny is slightly jerky even after the car is warmed up. Its jerky during the shift, rpm's aren't jumping, no forward jerks. Wondering if this is common. My taurus used to do this, then about 1.5 years later it started slipping very badly. Dealer opened up the trans and found a passave valve on the valve body cracked in half. I'm not hard on my car, but I'm not soft either. If the situation arises, I'm not afriad to make use of 222hp under the hood.

I bought a 3rd party extended warranty....powertrain up to 128,000 miles (100,000 on top of what you have) sounded good until i read the fine print that says it covers about everything that will NEVER go wrong ((the stuff on cars that is built to last)) so im wondering if i should cancel it)

I have a similar warranty, but mine covers everything except for belts/battery's/brake shoes.
If I do my own repairs, they actually pay me for the labor

Anyone have any experience with Vehicle One Extended Warranties? I think I have a bad MAF and I'm going to take it to find out tomorrow if its covered, but if it isn't I really don't want to pay diagnostic. Anyone had to replace a MAF under Vehicle One Extended Warranty, or any extended warranty?
