I wonder if I could just push the amber lense in, stick pliers into the housing, crack the amber lense into bits and remove the pieces?

This mod is not really hard at all. I know people are afraid of ruining these expensive headlamps, but believe me, it's really simple. Send them to me, I'll clear them for you. Here are my pics. I'm going to add the '02-'03 bumper next, because the lights look alot better on these bumpers than the '00-'01's.

I have someone doing it for me, thanks.

And I prefer the 00/01 bumper. I don't like the lower grille on the redesigned bumper. I just replaced the emblem on the grille with the new Nissan emblem and it looks very, very nice.

^^ it's EXTREMELY easy...at 200*, you can leave them in there for a pretty long time....i have a detailed how-to on my home page that clarifies some of the small questions i had during my installation....

cardomain has been really lately, so the pictures aren't up, but you get the idea: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/695690/5

I have them w/out the lens. On my Pearl I think it looks awesome. I have the chrome bulbs that blink amber b/c I think it looks better than having the housing reflect blue. I haven't been able to upload pics to cardomain for a while, but if you need them you can PM me your email.

well arnold, you could theoreticly break that lens apart from the directional bulb opening, its just held in by 3 tabs, but if you ever wana go back 2 stock, you wount have the lens to put back in. what ever i do to my car, i always do it so i can go back to stock if ever needed. just my philosophy

Heh, I don't really think it'd be a big deal to break the lense and never be able to use it again. I'd probably end up throwing it out. So once I get home, I'm going to see if I could just pop the tab out, break it and remove it.

IMO this is how i would do it, DO EVERYTHING WITH THE LAMP UPSIDE DOWN, so youdont have orange lens pieces in your lamp, take a drill bit and spinn it by hand to make a hole in the lens (createing a week point to start the break) hook something through the holl and use a small screwdriver to push the tabs (3) holding the lense in, pull the hook towards you untill the orange lense is unhooked and then break it apart somehow.

If I just pushed in on the lense would it pop INSIDE the housing? Does it just pop right out? If it does, then I'll just stick pliers in and crack the lense into pieces -- and just shake the pieces out of the hole.

Sound right?

Dude, just bake the lights and open them up. It is scary at first but I've done it twice and it really is not hard at all. Once you heat up the glue you can pry it open with a flat head and your hands. The orange lens is held on by 3 tabs, you can use that same flat head to push the tabs out a bit to release the lens.

It would be a bigger PITA if you don't open the housing.
