Cattman B-pipe and stock AE muffler?

Has anyone just replaced the B-pipe on their exhaust system? If you have, has the sound increased at all or would this be a pointless upgrade? The reason i ask is because i know that the AE muffler is already a straight through design (comming from the I30 to give that extra 5 ponies) and it seemed pointless to replace this peice. If anyone has this setup let me know what it sounds like, im looking for just an increase in tone, not something too loud.

I doubt u will hear a sound change....if it is, then it should be BARELY noticeable....I'm sure at idle it would sound stock

and is the AE muffler really straight thru? I thought all 00-03 maxima mufflers were chambered

I don't think any Maxima stock muffler is straight through. It is nearly impossible to have the sound suppression of a stock muffler with a straight through design.

As for the 5 extra hp.... that's another can of worms.

Oh i know what your saying about actually having 5 extra, i was just quoting the sticker. So would i be better off with a y-pipe then? I want to free up some power and add a little sound.

Get the cattman rear section. That's what I did and the sound is awesome. It also looks good and you get rid of that ugly *** AE muffler. Basically get just the rear section if you want looks and sound, y pipe for performance and sound. Or both. I have the Frankencar B pipe too just to complete the set up, but its not installed yet, so i cant say if B pipe affects performance or sound yet.

Do the Y first and then the B. The stock B pipe has a bad crimp in it and an aftermarket will be better. Also note the stock pipe is smaller than the cattman so you will have a 2.5" Y and B going into a 2.25 muffler. The Y, B, and rear sections are all improvements, depends on how much $$ you have to spend.
