joined the G5 club...got some questions

Just picked up a 2000 GLE Meridian and Z edition last night. Car is pretty sweet. I previously had a 1996 SE.

Anyways, a couple of general questions:

1) The radio is not all that clear, slightly crackles. Is this a common problem or is it a unique one? And if so, any ideas for a fix?

2) Anyone know how to hardwire an IPOD into the system? I am using an ITRIP right now, but with the crackling radio it doesn't sound all that great.

3) Recommendations on a new air intake? I had a Frankencar one on my last Max that I liked.

4) The only thing I don’t like about the car is the shifter (AUTO). Anyone replaced theirs with a smaller/more sleek one? Is it a big deal?

5) I would like to get a remote start being that I live in MN. What are good ones and reccomendations on where to get it installed?

That is it for now, Maxima.org really was helpful on my last car and I look forward to learning a lot on the G5 forum.

Search this forum, and maybe try local forums.

Congrats on the purchase.

if it is a maxima u are talking about, id say get another frankencar, or a berk.

remote starts are good, id say go with the 2 way alram (compustar, or viper) if u have the money. should run you abot 500 or so installed.

shift *****, you have a few choices, either the levoc (spelling) or the AE.

hope this helps

Yeah I am aware that it sounds like I am talking about a Z. However, on the original sticker it says "z edition." Maybe just dealer BS if you all haven't heard of it.
