I have a few questions about this retro, probably talked before but I cannot seem to find the link.
I have Dr Roy's how to but this is for the MDX projector.
I PM'd him for tips hopefully he can have some helpful tips.
If anyone has done this before please tell me of any fitment problems I might have.
I wanna know if the ebay projector's bezel is enough to make it look clean.
I wanna run this setup with maxima's best 7k HID kit, will the bulb have any problems? what size bulb would fit the TSX projectors?
SOrry if this seems confusing but basically im trying to retro fit the ebay proj with TSX proj and I wanna know if it will fit ok, also what bulb size would fit properly. THANKS

TSX projectors are one of the best ones you can get and the light output is very good. I sell them on Ebay on pretty much weekly basis. I have a set on Ebay right now 4 sale
You need to use D2S bulbs, I also got those if you are interested.

The best projector out there right now is actually the new Lexus GS300/430 projector. It has to have the widest and longest beam I've EVER seen. Insanity.

I HIGHLY advise you to stick with OEM manufactured parts. Anything above 4300k effectively decreases your lighting output. When using such high quality optics like a Stanley TSX lens, why would you opt for crappy aftermarket D2S capsules? I reccommend Phillips or Osram 4100 or 4300k capsules, and if you want more color.. you can opt for phillips capsules which are preburned to give you the "burn-in" color of a well used capsules... as you know.. your color will increase over time with the use of the bulb, as salts deposit on the inside of the bulb... Of course the color of 6k may look pretty from afar.. but you should modify your optics to achieve this affect.. not put in a colored capsule. I think that a site like http://hidforums.com would be very helpful to you in figuring out the best setup possible for your vehicle.. an HID retro.. is for someone very serious about lighting.. If you're spending the money to do it.. do it right.Originally Posted by maximillien

as for fitment issues.. i'm sure that you will have no problems.. roy's writeup is actually much more complicated than your retro should be. I know that the Bosch's are a virtual drop-in job.. where as the TSX's are a bit bigger, but not hard to fit.. Email VNMAXIMA (Vinny) he has this retro. Dr. Roy might not be very accessible currently.. when i saw him last was when he had just moved from Boston to New York.. Since he's moved in July.. i haven't seen him at all on the .org.. all though if you'd like his personal email address email me ryancturner@gmail.com .
sorry for multiple posts.. found this old one.. This topic of HID and projectors is not a new one on this forum... : http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....93#post3978693

The TSX projectors will definately fit i have heard of a couple ppl doing this retro. Ive got the Bosch E46 but will prolly end up getting tsx cuz of their color. I higlhy reccomend ,like everyone else did with me, to get OEM products only get 4300k bulbs and good oem ballast. If u got any questions pm me i MIGHT be able to help really not sure jus ask and ill let you kno if i can help or not.

You might be better of doing a coversion to you stock headlights. With the aftermarket projectors, you have to find one that fits or closely fits and those might be suck azz or very expensive projectors.... I did a couple of retrofits on gen 3 camry so i have a little insight on what it takes..You'll be more satisfied with doing a conversion on ur the stock lights rather than the aftermarket...

Better then the LS430?!
I thought the LS430 was the best one out there. Maybe they use the same one on the new GS300/GS430
The TSX projectors make enough light I think, they arent that expensive and they fit. The S2000 are about the same as the TSX except they might have more color and they cost twice than the TSXs, but its like the same light output and a wide angle as well.
From what i've heard.. the GS and LS projectors are virtually the same stanley projector. These two projectors are gigantic in comparison to bosch.. and would have a very hard time fitting into the ebay projector housing although it'd be awesome to see that retroed on a Max. Like stated before.. the s2000 projectors are great known very well for their color.. especially for small applications.. for lighting output the TSX beats the s2000.. but with a modification can approach the color of the s2000. It sounds like you're(maximilien) are not too serious about this lighting thing if you're considering 7k capsules.. if that is the case.. don't bother spending the extra money on TSX's.. just get some cheaper Bosch E46 projectors and call it a day.. they virtually drop in. Just my 2 sense though.

x1,000,000The cut-off is nice. It is just getting chewed up by color.
WOW nice blue at the cut off, I read that the reason the bosch projector arent as sharp is because of the len's ripple.
Overall THANK YOU for your informative replies.
After reading the sticky from HID planet I will decide to stick with the OEM HID because of the picture of the kelvin rating.
So yes I will stick with the 4300k kit from HID planet. Just reassuring myself now that I will get the ebay projector and its a simple drop in with the bosch projectors right?
now i have one final question before getting the parts together, with the wiring with the relay to the battery, do I simply tap it off the stock harness and use the relay to drive another wire str8 from battery?
If so what gauge should this wire from the battery to the harness be. I am guessing 10 gauge?
Also to the comment using my OEM lights. I like the angel eye look and will also retro fit new brighter LEDs to the stock angel eyes. Also if I use my OEM headlights I will not have time since i work and school.. there can be no downtime. THANKS again guys great help. Please reassure me that the bosch proj will be simple drop in with the ebat proj
One last thing, looking at the cut off line, why is everyone not straight flat line but it stairs up, is there a reason for this??
ALso to modify more purple on the cut off line is that trial and error placement of projector distance away from the headlight. Please clear this for me, I want as much purple as possible. THANKS!

screw the cut off, with that much color who cares!!!
but yeah, getting color is pretty much messing with washers and shields.

You place them in between the actual projector glass and the bulb holder shield thingy (excuse my languaue i do not now the terminology) Lol or in the Bosch E46 projectors you bend the shield towards the bulb a lil bit though and the washer mod works to ive heard.

that question would be better addressed at hidplanet.com probably.... they have more specific answers....Originally Posted by maximillien

So the Bosch e46 projectors are basically drop-ins huh? Thats good. Right now I have the Hella ballasts and the Philips 4300k bulbs, waiting on the headlights and e46 projectors which I hope to get before the Thanksgiving holiday. Oh and relay harness too.
