2K max bad coils How to?
I have looked but havn't found out how I (Joe sixpack) can check to see which coil has gone bad! (For free)
Also can 2001 coils from a wreck be used. (I know this issue was only for 2000)

I'll save you some gas that you would have spent driving to autozone to have them check which one. Just go ahead and purchase new updated grey-dot (all six of them) coils from Dave for a discounted price and save money in the long run. Your welcome.

Well, why didn't you just say that to begin with?
Go to autozone then and have them check with a consult tool, they should be able to bring up a code or just tell you which one it is themselves. Yes, you can use an '01 coil since the 5gens are forwards/backwards (or however you say it) compatiable.

If it is a multiple cylinder mis-fire, more than one coil they will not be able to pin point it. Then you will have to go to Nissan and pay the diagnostic fee. My local dealer charges around $70 each for the coils. DaveB on the other hand only charges approx $55ish per coil...

Don't go to Nissan, the dianostic fee is like $100 dollars and they use the same equipment that Autozone uses.

I had Nissan run a diagnostic but their answer was $750 please. I have NO ENGINE SHAKE. My check engine light goes on and off about 1 week at a time. Dealer says light is coils....Does autozone run their diagostic for free?
If its up front I'm golden.

Autozone does not use consult tool.. all they have is a code reader. Nissan and Infiniti are the only ones I know of that use consult.

I had the same problem and went to Autozone and it wouldn't tell me specifically which one...so I just pulled out the spark plugs one by one to check the coil packs and one of the spark plugs was much darker than the others and I just bought one coil to replace the supposed bad one and sure enough the light turned off a few miles later and I've had no problems since and it's been about 5 months so don't buy all six there is never a reason to regardless of what people tell you on here because you can most often fix the problem by only buying one or a few... why fix something if it's not broken? Good luck.
Also there was a post a while back regarding the P1320 code and how sometimes it was resolved by wrapping electrical tape around coils to prevent excess heat which apparently has the ability to throw a bad coil code. Something to think about. Sorry i'm not a donating member so I can't search for the thread, but might as well investigate as it could potentially save you some money in the long run.

The reason I suggested buying all six of the updated grey-dot plugs was because: 1. the aren't flawed like the originals, 2. If you only change out one plug at time, your going to end up wasting time and labor because you will have a merry-go-round effect with the life of the plugs. But if you're short on cash like me, replacing one plug for the time being is really the only way you can go, cause you're broke.
