I have noticed that when it is cold out, my tranny starts to slip. But when it warms up again, everything works fine. I did have the fluid flushed at about 60,000 miles. Any insight??

Thanks

Could you explain a little more about how it "slips" when cold?

I mean when its cold outside. The engine could be warm but the ambient temp is usually about 49 or less when it starts to act up. I could be sitting at a light, and when I depress the gas the car will rev up then jerk into gear. Then sometimes the car while cruising on the interstate, will jerk when trying to accelerate to change lanes. RPM's will go up, then the tranny will finally shift wwwaaaayyyy after it normally would. I hope I was clear in my explanation.

Good explaination.... check fluid level per owners manual as Deiz2k says. Could be a bad line pressure selinoid, bad valve body, or a shot tranny. There is a TSB out for the selinoid and valvebody but with that mileage, you may be S.O.L. Clearly this is not normal and should be checked ASAP.

how many miles when you bought the max? im thinkin of getting extended warranty just for teh tranny, i think nissan made the tranny to go bad after the 60k warranty is up. most of my friends nissan tranny went bad between 60k to 90k.

A few miles over 27,000. I have an extended warranty in effect until 100,000 miles.

When your car over revs without gaining any speed you know that you definitely have a transmission problem. I recently had my transmission replaced by my local stealership.

my 00 auto with 118k on it does that. when i first start it up it slips from 1 to 2. a tranny guy said that it is not worth getting a valve body or tranny for becuase it works fine when it is warm. i just take my foot completely off the gas right before it shifts and let it shift then i put my foot on the gas slowly. just my experience

Not an idiot more of an enthusiastic driver. I do alot of mountain driving on the weekends with my friends. ive installed a B&M oil cooler and have done the stage 1 vbmod and run on race atf. You cant call me an idiot driver when you see other members tranny's going out even though they dont push there cars like i do. I see the mods you have done to your Max and it seems to me the only reason your tranny is still fine is because your going fo show and not go. You could argue with me that our cars shouldnt be driven this way but like i say "To each, there own" Do what you want to your cars cause thats what they are YOUR CAR

That's right Buddy. It's my car and I will drive it the way I please. I'm not saying I go hotrodding around town. On the weekends I do but only on mountain roads where I'm not endangering the life of tons of people. Don't get me wrong it's 100% safe to drive the way I do in these areas but it's better than flying next to a handful of cars with people getting home to their families. Oh just read my sig.
