Is it just me, or do our headrests look.... ummm....ugly? I was wondering if maybe we could take headrests out of another car, and put them on ours. I took the headrests out of my Mazda and put them on my Maxima with no problem. But the thing is that I remember not too long ago, someone said that the headrests move with your head in a rear impact. Could this feature be lost with a headrest swap? I was really looking at the headrests from either a Saab 93, or an Audi A6. Thanks!

Active restraint headrests move forward and back, which I believe come on all 2001's. My friend's 2001 GLE has them and I saw them in action: they wobble back and forth to accomodate your head slapping against them providing movement. In summary, they are flexible headrests. The 2000's do not have this feature.

Active head rests

I don't like them, they are not adjustable for comfort like those in my 93 max or 93 lexus. I guess I'll like them if I'm in an accident??? How come to be safer, they had to become less comfortable...can't even rest your head back comfortably. Why, Nissan, why???

They are "Head Restraints" not rests. Your head is supposed to be held up by your neck, not the seat. Check out nissan's site for more info. They move forward in an accident to prevent whiplash.

I like my head-rest/restraint at its lowest setting. But my driver seat headrest seams to inch up on its own. I wish it would not.
