Good question. I have the same setup with just the AE ****. I took the rubber washers from the '00 boot and wrapped it underneath and over the 5.5 boot. It doesn't quite reach the **** but it looks alright. I'm considering a replacement. I just wish the stick wasn't so long.

Get a short throw. On the 5th gen I believe the actual shifter is shortened and this should help you out. On the 5.5gens the sts is just adaptors that make our throw shorter. Then get a momo ****, they come with different adaptors to put over the thread and then you just tighten the **** with an allen wrench.
