Gear lube or tranny?

Gear lube or tranny?
Hey, has anyone out there on the .org experienced shifting problems with the Amsoil Series 2000 75W-90? Just curious. While it shifted smoother and easier when cold, shift action got pretty notchy after the tranny got good and warm - even to the point that I crunched 3rd once on a normal upshift . I used to use the regular Amsoil GL4 75w-90 with no problems.
I went back to the the regular GL4 75W-90 last night, and shifting seems to have returned to normal. Any ideas on what's going on?

Is the Amsoil Series 2000 75W-90 GL4 or GL5? You definitely don't want to run anything but GL4 because GL5 has too much extreme pressure additives and will corrode your copper and brass metal parts. It's also more slippery and might cause your synchros to slip and could cause the crunching you are experiencing. I've been running Redline MT90 GL4 and have had no problems. I get perfecty notchy shifts with no grinding. I've been wanting to switch to Amsoil GL4 because I hear Amsoil is better in preserving tranny life where Redline is more geared towards performance.

It's supposed to have GL4 EP additive levels, but offer the protection of a GL5 - so it's safe for a trannys requiring only GL4 or GL5. I believe they've taken it off the market for a newer versions that are GL5 only.
