Ok I have a 2000 Maxima and we've had quite the problems with that car! well I was reading the other posts about the paint chips and how the paint is soft, but thats just the begining of my problems. When I accelerate on the gas hard my rpms would go all the way up to 7000 then it takes along time to shift. Then when it does the car shift it like snaps my neck back! I dunno what the problem is?? I took it to the dealership and told them about this problem and there like "yeah we've just been notified about this, and we are going to have to keep your car in over night! But its under warranty so I was alright with it! Anyways the next day i go pick up the car and i park it at home! The tranny was fixed. Now if you punch it, it shift on a dime. Anyways I park the car and the next day i go out for a drive and when I was pulling back into my garage I saw a huge stain on the ground. I park the car outside & i touched the liquid and it was red! There was transmission fluid everywhere! I'm really ****ed off right now and I'm going to write a letter to nissan. I love the car but its always in the shop! anyways If you read this thanks and tell me what you think! Nissan said there was a flaw with the 2000 maximas transmission but anyways i'll talk to you later! Eric

It sounds like you had a pretty bad problem with the tranny slipping all the way to 7k rpm before shifting. That was a pretty common problem though, and a lot of us have gotten the tranny shift solenoids replaced as a result. However, it sounds as if the dealer screwed up somewhere in putting the tranny back together. Maybe they didn't tighten the tranny pan enough and that caused the fluid to leak out. Anyhow, they have to take care of it. Hopefully, it will be an easy fix. Let us know how it goes...

Look at the TSB's for your tranny
There is a recall on the Transmission control module that
should take care of your problem. Take your Max to a diff
dealership to have the rest of the problems taken care of

Yeah but the thing is! Its automatic, and when you push the car the rev limiter goes up to 7000 and stays there. After about 1.5 seconds it shifts and it snaps your head back all the time. Its like your losing time!

That is your tranny slipping....very heavily. I would suggest that you press your dealer to replace it all together if this has happened a lot. Who knows how much damage has been done to the clutch packs and gears from all this slipping.
