Do you guys know if 5th or 5.5 gen tails could be crack opened?

Yes there are many post regarding this and there have been some attempts but I'm not sure they were successful. You really have to use a dremel to get these cracked open. Shoving them in the oven like the headlights will not work. I was going to try this sometime, just haven't gotten around to doing it.

 

I'm sure they can be "cracked" open, but that's probably not what you had in mind.

Why do u wanna crack them open??
aftermarket lights are really cheap now so your better off going on ebay getting new ones and then selling ur stock ones ... basically they'll pay for themselves
i bought the clear taillights with black housing for 80$ and sold my stock lights for 45 each ... not bad

 

For me, it's just experimenting to see what I can come up with.

 

Someone tried to. But ended up destroying the house when attempting to seperate the sealant.

 

I would want to seperate them to paint the chrome part body color!! Has anyone opened afermarket sets?

 

Cracking them open wouldn't be too hard. The challenge comes in putting them back together.
