hotshot vs. cattman

Plan on buying headers for my 02 cali spec 6 speed. Been reading and found out that people have fitment issues with the new cattman headers. I thought that cattman was the best. I have bought the racecat and cat back from cattman and everything was good.
Whats the difference with hp/tq increase when comparing these two headers?
Hotshot is a lot cheaper compared to cattman but you know what they say you get what you pay for. I also bought the one 02 simulator for my cali spec max.

There are no dynos directly comparing HotShot against the new Cattman headers.

However, in my estimation, if you you were to have one; HotShots would post comparable #'s to the Gen2's.

Yes, the new cattmans have fitment issues. However, Brain will fix them, he runs a great business.

The Cattman headers however are much more expensive, mainly because HS are bulit mainly in-house, not outsourced. I chose the HS headers because I could not justify dropping $300 more for a system that posted no gains over what hotshot was putting down.

my HS are going on my 6spd 02 tomorrow. i also couldnt justify the extra $300 for the cattmans. either way you go, you'll be happy, but with the extra $300 i saved, i bought a VAFC-II

Can somebody explain to me how Hotshot headers can be altered to fit VQ30s? Because Mike has done it, and so have a few others. Perhaps Mike (BlackBirdVQ) can shine in?

Since you have an 01' which dont have EGR (00' have EGR's) all you would have to do is relocate the front primary o2 sensor and you are good to go.

HS headers bolt right up to a 01 Max, where 00 has EGR and needs to have the EGR pipe welded shut or plummed back into the exhaust- any competent exhaust place should be able to do this for ya.

You need to relocate the front Primary 02 sensor so that it doesn't hit the AC compressor, and get some O2 Simulators to trick the ECU into thinking you still have cats. On a 00 Fed Spec you do not need any Simulator, since they have just ONE O2 sensor behind the cat and thats mounted behind the main cat. Main cat is behind the Ypipe and infront of the Bpipe. 01-up have 2 O2 sensors which are mounted behind each precat, and with headers you eliminate those precats. O2 sensors tell the ECU if the Precats are working, and since they are NOT there, they obviously do not work and you get a Check engine light. So the 02 Simulator takes the signal from the o2 sensor and sends a FALSE signal to the ECU making it think the precats are all working.

Even thou 00 has one precat in the Ypipe, its not monitored by the ECU. The ECU only monitors the rear MAIN cat. 01-up still have the main cat, but its no longer monitored by the ECU, only the precats are monitored.

You know which headers I would pick.... so I aint even going to say it.

Wow, they might have stopped. I would call them. Either way, you can still buy them directly from HotShot if they are still making them. If he stopped its because not enough people showed interest, so if people want them... I would be calling HotShot.

Sportcompactonly.com is still selling them. You have to phone the order in. I just bought a set from them. They aren't listing them anymore due to long shipping times from Hotshot. I ordered mine around the begining of the month and they still haven't shipped yet. Mention Maxima.org for a discount.

Just ordered mine from SCO today, it's not on their website you have to order it over the phone. Just to let you know they are offering 10% off until monday but they won't give the additional 5% maxima.org discount because of this sale.

I'm glad to ear that, Brian has always been a gentleman and always offer very good quality product so even if the headers are 300$ more, I dont care he will get my cash soon.

Cheers
