Loss of low end torque........HELP!!

I've tried looking for a subject on this in the forum, but came up short with 5 gens. It feels like my car has lost some of its low end torque ,and i have to rev it much higher in 1st to get it going than usual. I've noticed this for a couple months now. High end power is fine, it pulls great after 3000rpm. But it feels like i don't have the power i used to have between 500 to 3000rpm. I did have a problem with my car stalling out after the engine was warm and then was restarted or even while driving, but i cleaned the TB and its pretty much fixed that problem. But my car is still feeling sluggish in that low rpm range. Any suggestions on this would be much appreciated!!!

You think its the VIAS huh? From what i've been reading it seems like having a bad VIAS only effects high end power, didn't realize it affected a much larger range. I'll check out my VIAS though and see what happends. Thanks for the info.

did anyone consider that the vias can break in a number of position. the vias helps power above 5k but if it broke in the open position then it would definetely hinder low end power. if it breaks in the closed position then it affects above 5k. sounds like more than a few people need to read up on it. i currently have my power valve removed so there is no restriction and no switchover. there is a loss of torque confirmed by the dyno i was on while it was removed. i have countered the loss by using an FPR and bumping the fuel pressure then backing it out with the vafc2. the result is more advanced timing which helps my low-midrange power. this is not the same as base timing.

i stand corrected but i still think that there is a number of other things that should be checked just as a prelim before saying, well the cars not running right, it must be the vias. any number of things can throw low end off in our maxs and i think they would be worth investigating first. thanx for the correction though, sloppymax, learn something new everyday.

i completely agree. a few have opened their vias with over 60k miles and it was functioning correctly. mine was shot at 40k. if there is no cel light then i would suggest 3 pulls with a/f and see where the power issue is really occuring.
