Can anyone help with camshaft sensor
Can anyone help with camshaft sensor
I have a check engine light P0340,
I believe its for 'Camshaft position sensor Bank one'
Since light came on the maxima has given me fits when starting, once started
seems fine.
My question is where exactly this sensor is located and what tools may be needed.
I thought it might be one of the blue colored wired plugs on the driver's side
of engine but I am not sure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks for your time.

it's covered under 60k powertrainw arranty...get it fixed before your car shuts down on you on the freeway. what do you mean fits? i had the light on for actually a good while before i had time to fix it...thank God nothing happened
i honestly dont think anything's as scary as driving your acura and having your tranny drop from 5th to 2nd going 80mph

by fits I mean it cranks for 3-4 seconds then I can get it running
Have you checked to see if your car is covered by the Recall?
There is a recall on 2002 Maximas for crank/cam sensor replacement.
And I was there when the tranny in my dad's 2k1 Acura (T)ransmission (L)auncher locked up solid and dumped ATF all over I-20, while he was doing about 75 MPH. Dang lucky he didn't get killed.
BTW, 3-4 seconds is not an excessively long crank time IMO.

I did not know about recall. I call tomarrow and check.
starting issue- usually it would take 1-2 sec at most.
Now it takes 4 sec at best (when warmed up) at worst I could crank
it 5-6 sec with no start, I wait a sec then try again and it would start in the
4 sec area.
Thanks for the replies

I just called to see if there was anything left on my bumper to bumper and the service department told me about that recall that was not done on my maxima. This part being wouldn't cause a slight taping noise at low idle would it? Almost like it is low on oil. (it is not by the way).
