P0138 - 02 Sensor Replacement- What part #?

I need to replace my 02 sensor (My 2000 GLE I was getting a heated o2 bank 1 error message, I think. The Code was 0138. Got the part from Auto zone thinking I could probably do it my self. I heard o2 sensors were a common problem, my car runs fine but I hear I'll have bad gas milage.

--- I've updated my question

Can someone tell me the replacement part for autozone for those of you that have done it before. I'm assuming this is the 02 sensor at the rear of my car just before the muffler right? Jack up the rear passanger side of the car?

What happened to the other sensor/s, if you only have 2. You should have at last 3. Spray soem WD40 in there, comes off like a charm.

1. You have three O2 sensors total, two fronts and one rear, if you are Fed spec. See diagram on Page 4:

2. P0138 is for the Bank 1 Sensor 2, which is the sensor behind the cat (rear). Double check the code to make sure you are trying to replace the correct one.

3. I used an adjustable wrench to get mine off, which seemed to work fine. You can even try some vice grips and a nice thick towel, with some caution of course.

I used a 22mm open wrench and it came out easy... It is the O2 in the back of the engine in the pre-cat area... The easiest way to get to it from the ground is from the passenger side and it is just behind the wheel (slightly to the left of it)...

mother of gawd

dag nam it!

I almost replaced the wrong one.. I could have sworn it was the front one I needed to replace.

Man thanks guys you saved me a few hundred bucks. Off to the store to exchange parts. YESSh my head would have exploded if I replaced the wrong one.

I remember the code was P0138. But for some reason I swear I only have 2 sensors (I thought my model had 2 or 4) I've got like a white and a blue on. BLue one is up front (one I almost replaced) I forget the color of the other one I think it was white.

Part Number

I'm trying to find the part number now. Autozone guys dont have a clear answer. Anyone know what I'm looking for? That service repair PDF File is confusing for me.

What I've gathered is I need a bank 1 rear oxygen sensor - 226a0-4L713

and the boss or whatever autozone said the part number I need is like 13374. Except they said their is a 3 wire lead and 4 wire lead part, simliar price. Anyone know the specifics?
