Berk intake - remove stock snorkle?

I have installed Berk intake. The instructions said to leave the front snorkle part of the stock intake in place. I can see why, as there's a temp sensor in it (right before it enters the stock airbox) and another connector bolted to it near radiator. I'd like to remove it. Has anyone removed their and what did you do with the temp sensor?

I took off mine, I taped the sensor to the front of my battery... I am to lazy to move it to the front of the bumper.

i kept mine on. i used short black tube that fit over the snorkle and ran it just under the cone. i figure it helps somewhat cooler air since it does not have to pass over the ac condenser then radiator to get to it. surely not a big deal but it does look cleaner/nice with the scoop removed.

Do you think it really makes the air that much cooler??

Not being a smarta**, it is a genuine question.

I did the same thing, and yes I think it helps direct cooler outside air towards the filter.

BTW, I have been monitoring the temp under the hood near the Berk intake filter for over a year now and when the car is moving the temp is only 3-5 degrees more than the outside air.

it directs air toward the filter. It should make a significant difference when the car is moving. Keep it on

it's the "thing" between the engine and battery in this picture (sloppymax's):

your temp sensor is built into the maf. the 3.0 iat is in the stock scoop or relocated position for those that remove it. it is purely for diagnostic purpose.

The 2002/2003 Berk owners don't have that sensor in the front of our stock intakes. For you 2000/2001 owners, you just need to make sure you relocate and secure the sensor if you choose to remove the entire stock intake. Removing it really isn't necessary, though. It just makes the engine bay look less cluttered, in my opinion.
