Should there be play in the parking brake handle...

Should there be any play in the parking brake handle when it is not engaged? I have an auto and I always use my brake as to not put stress on my transmission. When it is not engaged, I can lift the handle quite a bit. Should I tighten it by engaging it and tightening that?

Yes, tighten it. I had the same thing before, until one day it started rolling and nearly hit my garage door.

I just need to get one of those deep socket things because the screw part prevents the socket from getting to the nut.

remember to drive in reverse and slow down with the e-brake to adjust the cables after tightening. Boy you just can't stop nitpicking about all the little stuff, wait til your tranny goes

Hmm, roll in reverse and bring her to a stop with the e-brake? Perplexing. Just need to do that once?

You do need the deep socket to adjust, but dont do it up too tight, make sure there is no pressure on the brakes when lever is down. Err on the side of caution.

Where is this adjustment screw? I went to check on mine, and can lift the e-brake handle about 1/2"
