PROJECT EXTERIOR OVERHAUL I: Battle Damage via SUV!!! *PIX*

That's right ladies and gentlemen, with the interior project near completion, it's time to get started on the exterior. What I didn't know was that I get to start TODAY. Yes, that's right. I ritualistically go to WaWa every morning @ 6:15am to purchase a pack of smokes and a Red Bull. And, just like any other day, I have to back out of a tight spot in order to go on my merry way. However, today was different. Mr.Voiht decided that he needen't look over his shoulder when backing out of his spot, and, since he was in a rush, to do so quickly. Unfortunate for him, as my Maxima was there to intercept the rear of his bumper!

FAWKING WEAK. I'll have pics up tonight. This sucks so much. I was going to get SO MUCH DONE THIS WEEKEND!!! The extent of the damage remains isolated to the rear panel. So I can't fill up with gas. Oh, and the metal now scrapes the tire when I hit a bump.

MERRY F'ING CHRISTMAS, DAN!!!!!

Thanks for the support, man...

Wow man that sucks. Its always when you want something done that things just start to get in the way. Atleast your covered and it wasn't worse. Besides, i'm kinda glad your not going to get some gawdy kit instead of your stock bumber...i think with as nice as your interior is going to look, keep your outside classy with just some lips and skirts. You want people to look at your car and say DAMN! not say...look how much money that whole kit must of cost him.

C'mon you should know as good as anyone here, especially as far into your project as you are, that things never go as planned. Besides what fun would all of this labor be without unexpected bumps and bruises. Makes things that much more enjoyable in the long run. Anyways I'm sure you'll work through it and something good will come out of the whole situation. Think positive and push forward.

I remember last year when my wife borrowed my Max - then all of a sudden a high speed parking garage pillar smashed into the right side passenger door. Good times for all.

Dam i would be so pissed its ok at least it happened to you. Like three hrs before hurricane Wilma hit FL my mom borrowed my car and parked it under a tree, well yea that tree took some kinda of anger out on my roof and now my sunroof won't even go back . My pops said he'd fix it for me cuz he could get it fixed for less then the 500 dollar deducttible we'd have to pay the insurance. Just waitin for him to come from Dominican Republic so we can get it fixed. So yea i feel for you.

It looks totaled. I call dibs on your interior!

Hope you get it fixed quickly. While it's in there, get your grill and engine cover painted too. These guys will make fun of you for it, but it's only because they all wish they had it done. It's cheap to get done when the shop already has the paint bought and mixed. Your cover should be around $80 and the grill 100-150.

Sorry.

I feel your pain same **** happend to me last January "See my home page for pics". What realy sucks is that it was the rear quarter instead of the front. The rear is so much more $$$ to fix then the front. Make sure you wash the car before the insurance company takes a look at it. The damage always looks much worse when the car is clean.

Yeah, the repair estimate is fawking ridiculous. Good call on cleaning it first, I did not think of that.

Alright, I have filed a claim against this guy for the repairs. I originally could not get an estimate until Monday, but the fact that I can't get my gascap open (w/o use of a screwdriver) allows me to put some leverage in my favor in getting the fire lit under their a'ss.

I'll update everyone as things progres.

Thanks for your support, everyone...oh, and btw...

CAN ANY GUESS THE ESTIMATE COST????

i know what will make you feel better....a brand new shiny 4th gen cluster!!!

Don't worry, the max will be OK, the damage isn't too bad. I'd see this as a blessing in disguise, get some nice rims as well as the damage repaired.

I'll guess 3 large, my front bumper and one headlight and a little hood rework was over $2K.

I'd say 700-900 because they have to cut the panel from the roof, reweld, and paint. That should take about 10 hours of work and 5 hours of paint/clear coat.

dam metal, sorry this happened to you. Hope you get the strongest estimate possible. Not sure if u know where to go to fix it but i know njmaxseltd's shop in jersey does great jobs.

Yo what drop do u have, just seen the gap on one of your pics and its very minimal

thirdly, i say it will cost around 1500. Your not replacing a part it seems, maybe gas tank at most, your just popping things back to place and smoothing it out. Damage is heavy and in a horrible spot though. I think thats the worst thing besides frame damage. If they consider the car totaled, what would you do? i doubt it though

I wouldn't say it looks that bad. There might be more internal damage like Mecca said.

If it's through his insurance though, you shouldn't worry how much it costs.

I think you should take the money, use it as a down-payment on a G35, and give me your interior.

Don't worry about it too bad. Just make sure you get a free rental.
