Dimmed door light

Dimmed door light

at night the door light in my gauges is dimmed but in daytime it isnt any ides why that is. and when you open the door it lights up fully. Help.

Im pretty sure the thats a built in auto dimmer we have.... if you look at your clock at night and then turn on the lights you will notice it dims ... im guessing its the same for the rest??

I dont think he's asking why the light dims as much as he's asking why the light is on, I'm assuming when the doors are closed
