Hello All, I need your help. I had a 96 maxima and bought a K & N replacement filter. The question is can I put it on my 2001 maxima? it looks to be the same dimensions but I want to be sure.

Thanks, I appreciate your help.

The filter for the 2k models and up require the use of two foam spacers so that the filter is held in the tray tightly. You can perhaps make these yourself and then use the same filter. As long as it is in the tray nice and tight, it will be fine.

spacers

my K&N did not come with spacers so I went to the K&N website and email them. They sent the spacers to me for free.

filter size

When I went to autozone they has the same filter listed for most newer model max's (I think like 95+). The 5Gen has a dash2 (-2) after the model number meaning it came with spacers.

they are made of a dense foam...off the top of my head, they are 1/4" thick, 1/4" wide, and like a few inches long....
