When braking alot of steering wheel shaking

just like the title says when i brake i have alot of steering wheel shaking. Im guessing that my rotors are warped or some bushings down there are gone?

anyone have an idea? More than likly warping! Is there a brake upgrade to 300zx calipers on to the 2k2 maxima?

Thanks

There is a Z32 caliper upgrade, but you'll need different wheels, other than stock.

A34 brakes would suit you well, the rotors are 12.6" vs 11.68" (OEM A33B), and they fit under the stock A33B(02/3) SE wheels.

Only drawback is that they are a smidge heavier than the stockers, but not by much when compared to the A33 (00/01)

They make a 2 piece rotor for the 6th gen brakes now which will shave about 6lbs off each corner. Pretty impressive, and it winds up being lighter than our current setup. Worth it if you ask me. I have a winter tire setup with my OEM 17's so I cannot do the z32 upgrade

Im thinking about this upgrade shortly.

But you need to shave some material off the pad AFAIK in order to fit the A34 caliper on there... According to Matts post about them.

vibrations while braking can also be cause by bad ball joints, tie rod ends, and strut mounts.

be sure to check all of these things before you condemn your brakes.

Also, when using the 2 pc rotors, I don't think you're going to have to trim anything off the 5.0 gen parts to make it fit- I haven't tried it yet.
on the 6 gen calipers, these rotors will bolt right on, BUT the inside edge of the pads must be trimmed by about 1/4" to keep the pad from contacting the aluminum rotor hat. the pads on the 6 gen are about the same length as the 5 gen pads, but they're taller so that they cover more of the large diameter rotor's surface.
For these rotors to work properly, that's not an issue- simply trim the edge of the pads so they don't hit the hat and you're good to go.

Look here

HM am I the only one that thinks its wheel balancing?
Had similar experience last week. Checked brakes and brakes were ok. Stopped by tire shop and had them check on my two front wheels. They needed balancing so bad. and the shaking stopped.
If everything else is fine, Believe me its not alignment since your car doesnt shake at high speeds (I hope).
ITS simple
Balance the two front wheels and you'll be fine

if its wheel balancing it would happen more than just when braking.

same thing here. Had new front IROTORS. Went back to shop to have them check on the brakes again and came back with shuddering when braking more more during the week and front vibrating at high speeds. I really think the a wheel bolt is loose or i just might get that balancing checked out. I did just get an alignment and had no problem before that. Also try rotating a suspect tire.
