Got Rid of those damn squeaks!
I was starting to get really pissed off at the max. I was getting squeaks and creaks going over crappy roads with lots of little bumps. Yesterday I yanked out the WD-40 and sprayed the hood hinges with a little. I also sprayed the door hinges on all 4 doors.
Creaking = GONE
I think I have a small creak coming from the rear of the car, so Im going to WD-40 the trunk next... once I get back from Australia!

Back on topic. I have a few slight creaks as well. Might have to give this a shot as well. Seems like it gets worse during the cold months.

Either way my creaking is on the two front doors...drivers side is worse. Already spray lithium greased them but Im realizing is the actual hinges themselves. Those spacers are worn down inside the hinge...and they are not adjustable

Well if we start brand new threads on old topics we get shunned. I actually searched and resurected an old one...is that bad?![Confused](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)

I guess mild creaks come with the territory on an older car. I cant see myself buying new hinges for it...maybe some fleabay hinges are in order.

Funny this thread pops up because I was also pissed at my car for everytime I closed my door I would hear this annoying squeek.. but not with the hood open. I would also hear it driving in my neighborhood. so finally I sprayed wd-40 on the hinge and gone.. So pleased. I know it wont hold up so ill eventually put white lithium grease.

I already put lithium grease on mine...didnt fix it...but as i said...those spacers in the hinge wear out and you are screwed. Try this...take your door and almost close it but dont..then lift up....if the door lifts up a little tiny bit in your hands...those spacers are worn.

I will have to do some searching because I have no idea how adding washers to my hinge mounts will help in any way. My particular problem is WITHIN the hinge itself. There is play inside the hinge, thus there really isnt a way for washers outside the hinge to fix this...unless im missing something crucial here......

My friend had a squeak on his I30. It sounded like the rear door but it turned out to be under the car where the trailing arm from the rear wheel attaches to the body....just about under the middle of the rear door.

I wouldnt say my door is sagging per se....Im not sure if the play in the hinge is upward or downward if that makes sense...but if i hold the door almost shut from outside...and lift on it...it moves a bit upwards. Those sleeves are a little shot inside the hinges...

Figured it out I think....after you guys mentioned sagging door I spent some time looking at the hinges and the door. From outside the door is in fact sagging! Trim is off by 1/8 inch or so. This is likely what is causing the creaking sound from a stop. When you guys fixed the sag did the noise get resolved as well? I have no noise opening or closing the door.....just driving when the frame moves around slightly....
