I was in the dealership today and was asking the salesmen about when they would be getting the new 260hp Max. He told me you need to wait till 2003 when the 300hp Max comes out. Now I thought he was smoking crack so I called 2 more Nissan dealerships and they said he was right. I hope they're telling the truth. But my lord 300hp.....WOW!! I mean that would run 13's in the 1/4 mile and 0-60 in about 5.3sec Sign me up now I want one.

I dont get it, what did he mean you'll have to wait for the 300? The 2002 will have the 260 hp engine.

What don't you get 300hp is more than 260hp. So what I'm saying is why buy the 260hp Max when 1 year later they're coming out with a 300hp Max. Now this just what the 3 dealerships said, so I don't know if its true. But it would make since considering the 260hp Max only will have 20 more horsepower than the new Altima and the Max will cost about 5,000 more for a fully loaded Max SE. Although I wouldn't buy the Altima it still makes since.

Still FWD?

Will it still be front wheel drive? I feel 300hp may be too much for the front wheels. I'm no expert but I believe I read somewhere that some Audi engineers felt that 200+hp was about the practical limit for front wheel drive cars.

You seem to have forgoten that the 2003 max will be a big oversized beast and will cost a lot more. It will probably be the same size/weight as the new Q and it will have less HP, so the 03 max will probably not perforem that great on the track. I bet the 02 max will be the quickest max around for a long time.
