If you got 8” wide rims – come in

I’m getting 17x8 rims with 35mm or 40mm offset and 235/45 tires. According to my calculations both setups are fine for the 5th gen but I’m still a bit scared and would like to get a confirmation from someone else.

Thanks in advance,

Mods, please don’t move it to the wheels/tires forum because I need to get help from the owners of 5th gen only and it is also sort of urgent.

I have Z wheels. 17x8 on the rear. 30mm offset.

Initially, I had 235/50/17 tires and when car was loaded they were rubbing over bumps/dips etc. Only sometimes but it bothered me.

I put 245/45/17 tires and things are better now. I have not experienced any rubbing or other issues.

18 x 8 rims 38 offset. 245x40x18 tires. No issues. Could probably go down to 35 offset.

i had 9.5 inches in the rear with a 275/30 inch tire and it rubbed alittle bit. nothing really bad. never go below a 8 in wide rim, other wise that would look really f'in stupid on your car.

Everyone seems to have 245-40 instead of 235-40. I thought with 18x8 wheels that 235-40 was a better choice.

On the 2k2-2k3's the 245/40 are closer to the OEM rim/tire diameter, therefore minimal speedo error. And it fills the wheel well a bit better IMO.

Exactly. Wheels with a 30mm offset and that size tire will have the tires flush up front and slightly tucked at the rear.

I have 18x8 with 30mm offset, 235/40/18 tires,

and

17x8 with 35mm offset, 225/50/17 snow tires

and

17x8 with 35mm offset, no tires yet, but will likely be 235/45/17 for track.

no rubbing with the 18x8's 30mm offset though...
