Weird Noises when driving
Car never had problems before, but a few weeks ago, when I start driving the car, i get a really loud humming high pitch hum when I am driving. It also makes the car shake a bit, enough that the visor makes noises and my air freshner that is in front of the car. This sound can be ignore under speeds of 40, but approaching 55, it gets so loud I can't hear over my sound system, and because its a little high pitch, it really affects me when I drive. I can't even think to myself at all. Funny thing is if I am turning left more, the sound kind of goes away, but if I am going straight or turning right, the noise is loud but if I turn right enough, it goes away also. I don't know what is wrong or what I have to change. And if I leave the car in drive or neutral and rev it, its fine, no strange noise at all. I am a newbie when it comes to cars so I am not sure what it could be. The springs and strut seems fine, but I've only done the pressuring the car and seeing if the springs bounce back up. And they seem fine, what else could it be? wheel bearings? some mounts somewhere. Maybe an alignment. please someone help me get rid of this noise, its driving me crazy. I went to a mechanic and they put it up and rev it and couldn't find anything. They wanted me to come another time cuz they were busy. Can someone please help me out. Thanks so much

to me this sounds like a classic wheel bearing problem. if you turn left and it goes away...I think that means that the problem is on one of the left wheels as all the weight distribution goes to the right? Help me out on this guys

easy...at 55 mph BRAKE REALLY HARD, in a safe environment of course...
if the noise is still very audible then its probabily in the front. if after applying brakes the sound suddenly goes away then its in the rear. sound good?

check the tires first..... that happened to me and the tires were bad.... and now with the G35 rims one of the tires that came with thte rims is bad and is making a humming noise... so check the tires first(rotate them) and go form there....my.02

Thanks guys, I'm going to try the tires thing first and get back to you guys. The thing is like I said, if I go above a certain speed it goes away, like past the 60 mark, the sound becomes much softer. And the noise, it seems to be coming from the left side or middle of the car. And towards the front. I can't tell because its so loud and gives me a headache and hurts me to know my car is sounding funny as well. Anyone else can chime in on this?

I have the same problem. My friend has a shop and he put it on the rack and found (with a vibration/noise sensor) that the sound was coming from the mid bearing on the half shaft. He also noted that there was a ball bearing (falling like one was missing) noise sounded coming from the transmission output area so I was sent to his his friends transmission shop. He told me that the noise is most likely coming from the mid bearing because the transmission bearing is a needle bearing, not ball bearings. Taking the car to the dealer next week. Hope this fixes it. Will keep posting updates.

Bearings go out often after time. Definately check those...my rear tire came off another car onetime while I was driving through a parking lot because I heard the noise and didn't fix it right away. The tire rolled right past my car with the shaft still attached! This wasn't with the Max, but it still was embarrasing. Be sure to get it fixed soon.

Your problem is in the axle, that is certain. Whether its a bearing, or a worn inner CV joint, it would show up when you make a turn in the direction opposite of the side where the problem is. That means, if the noise gets louder on right turns, then you need to check out your Driver's Side axles, usually the front ones get messed up before the rear since thats where the power goes. Let us know if you get this problem fixed.

Yedah I think its the bearing, my dad's friend is a mechanic and jack the car up and said its the bearing. I'ma go buy some and replace them with him. Hopefully that'll fix the problem, I'll post updates by next week. He works during the week at a shop but he said he wants to do it for me for free, so I should have this done by Sunday, will post updates again.

Well got this fixed today. But I wasn't there for the repair. He changed both since I got two for him. For some reason I took it out for the drive, the loud humming irritating noise is finally god. But for some reason I am getting a weird clunking sound when I am driving it. Does bearings take time to settle in or something? There's a clunking noise, not too loud or distant, like a weird metal on metal hitting noise, a basic clunk that's gets faster as the car does. Think it might be the hub, cuz I did drive with my broken bearing for a while. And how would you diagnose a bad hub. Cuz the mechanic was there changing the bearing but he didn't tell my dad nothing about it being bad.
