Brian Catts said he had a set of these in stock for my car and he could get them to me for $225...what should i expect from these? are they worth it? sounds like they will make the car handle a lot better...how much labor is involved?

here is what brian said they do in the email...however, i'd like an unbaised opinion on how much they actually help

Motor mounts stabilize the engine, especially the way it pitches forwards and back under load. Eliminates wheel hop off the line, but also (according to my customers, I haven't put a set in yet) change the overall behavior and "feel" of the car. They say it tightens up everything, makes response more crisp -- its a very popular mod, especially since most early buyers didn't quite know what to expect and really end up liking every aspect of the mounts.

Try giving Sleeper a PM/email because he bought some recently. Brian's email sounds like what Sleeper (Delos) described.

Let us know what he says, though. I've been thinking about the MMs too.

I don't know about the benefits of that install but that is a deal when compared to the ones offered at avalonracing.net
http://www.avalonracing.net/maxima.htm $425.00 WoW! Not a bargain. I'm sure they are good but the price scares me.

can anything negative happen to my car from these? or is this a positive only mod

brian said that they are 225 for auto's w/ a core exchange and 275 for manuals w/o a core exchange

You really only need heavy-duty motor mounts if you increase the torque of your engine to a large degree, such as with supercharging or NOS. I have a Honda Tuning mag where they did a Jackson Racing supercharger buildup on a Civic SI. They installed Engery Suspension motor mount inserts (which beefed-up the stock motor mounts), and this is what they had to say: “The downside is a roughness to the idle that was once perfectly smooth, and a slight increase in engine noise transmitted through the body at cruising speeds.” That is what you can expect.

I plan on getting the supercharger, so I would want the HD mounts. For lightly modded cars, the stock mounts are fine.

i plan on adding nitrous fairly soon...i know that the stock mounts are fine, but (nothing personal) you sound like my parents...they think the stock engine and the car is fine the way it comes from the factory...my friend has a typhoon and when i told him to upgrade the intercooler, he said his is fine...most people think stock intakes are fine...we can't think this way if we are going to mod our cars...nothing on a car is fine...everything can be better...

so, other than road noise and roughness in idle (what exactly do you mean by that?) what can i expect? will this give me less bodyroll? make my car handle better?

Motor mounts are designed, in part, to absorb engine vibration. If you switch to the HD mounts, since they are firmer, more vibration will be transmitted through the car. The “roughness to the idle” refers not to the engine’s idle itself but to the vibration transmitted through the car. I’m sure it’s not much, and may in fact feel more “sporty” to the seat of the pants (less refined). I think they’re a great idea and would get them. Ask Mr. Cattman about the handling differences, but I think they’re biggest asset is making the front end behave better during hard acceleration; as Brian said they “eliminate wheel hop”. I guess a fair analogy would be what the front strut bar does for the handling of the car, the HD mounts does for the engine.

err...i'm starting to get kind of confused...will these make my car faster at all or just make it stiffer and make it handle better?

here is what brian said about the cost
"Just for the front and rears, which I'm starting to advocate rather than the more expensive 4-piece set, the price for an automatic (requires core exchange) is $225. Price for 5-speeds, which are all-fabricated and don't require cores, is $275."

so should i expect to actually feel a big difference from these? after i already had springs and new performance tires, i got a fstb and barely noticed anything...rsb is in the mail so hopefully (according to what everyone says) i will notice more from that
