The Dreaded steering wheel shimmy

I have the dreaded steering wheel shimmy on my '02 SE. From searching the .org it appears this issue is brake related and my rotors may be warped. I'm thinking about replacing the rotors and pads. I'll probably go with metal pads, although I see some are partial to the ceramic variety.

What are the pro's and cons of Slotted vs. cross drilled rotors?

Cross drilled have the possibility to crack. Go with slotted....

I believe there are a number of good options that we have for brakes. I recently went from iRotors slotted/x-drilled to Brembo blanks on the front. If you're not auto-crossing, not much reason to have the slotted and cros-drilled.

From what i've read so far, for my driving style, Brembo blanks with ceramic pads (for the the minimized generation of dust) appear to be my best choice.

I'll have to try them out and see how I like them.

Thank you for your help.

I'll second that.

Brembo's blanks and Raybestos Quie Stop pads. No problem since I replaced mine.

um, i dunno if you've ever used ceramic pads before, but my axxis pads turned my silver wheels gunmetal in a period of about two weeks...i'd look more into the dusting issue if it concerns you.

No, no noise at all with the (Brembo blank, Raybestos QS) combination. And much less dust than the OEM.
