After engine problems my car has now been in the shop for about a week and a half and technically nothing has been done. The infiniti dealership is still trying to get the ok from Infiniti headquarters to put a brand new longblock in my car.
And the shop doesnt even have a loaner. Even if they did I dont know if I could get it cause I'm only 21.
We call the dealership every day to find out whats goin on and its the same story.. that their basically doing paperwork and still dont have authorization to go ahead with a longblock
Is this type of treatment normal?

I swear I am going crazy without a car. If I had some sort of idea how long it would take this wouldent be so painful but never knowing when I am gonna get my car back is just terrible

well if its a long block they arent going to open it up ever. They are just gonna get the engine in the mail and drop it in. If I had gotten the short block and they had the thing open than I would say maybe I should think about putting some cams in there.. but to me 1300$ for 15 hp.. is a waste of money.Originally Posted by NmexMAX
Since they haven't started yet, pick up a set of these, and have them install them.

Whoa that makes me rethink gettin cams one day. Thats not bad gains for the money, plus I am guessing all the gains would be in the top end which is needed for our vq35s.Originally Posted by NmexMAX

I like all motor but I was thinkin about getting sleeves and boring the cylinders out, and getting forged rods. Increasing dispacement while allowing the car to rev to 9k.
But thanks for trying to pick things up a bit. This is quite depressing. Its also drivin me crazy because I have 4 brand new toyo proxes 4 ready to replace the blowtenzas as well as a FSTB and RSB sitting in my kitchen. I seriously pick these things up every day and just play with them.
If this engine trouble hadent come up I would have already installed all of the following as well as having my SFCs fabricated and I would have a full review of them up on the board already with pictures.

Actually I thought the idea brought up in this post was a good idea, but I would replace the rods as they seem to be the first thing to go in the VQ35 as power levels increase.

well if I want to do anything serious to my car I gotta drop 3k into a NRH tranny anyway. I figure if I spend less than 10-15k on mods on my car, keep it 2 or 3 years longer than I was originally planning on and part it out at the end.. I shouldnt come out too far in the hole in the end. I meen instead of getting a new car if I keep this car longer and put 10k into this car it will be pretty amazing.

Well if you think about it anytime you sell your car and buy a new one you lose a lot of money. At least 10-15k so instead of investing in a new car why not reinvest in the car you already have. If you do it right you can get a lot more car for your money. Originally Posted by Bborges

Doing all the suspension bolt ons doesnt cost more than 2k. (I dont plan on going for coilovers) Tranny is going to be 4k installed and engine will probably be 5-8k. At that point you'll have a sleeper that should put out 500hp at least as well as handle pretty damn well.. all while keeping every day drivability.
I was planning on trying to increase displacement and raise redline instead of doing a turbo or supercharger setup and running a large No2 shot for when I want to play. I think mild engine work+ No2 will end up being a lot cheaper than a turbo setup and more reliable. Also if you have seen all the suspension mods I want to do, the car should ride close to stock. Plus if I stay with the auto tranny I will have the leisure or dealing with city driving without leg cramps. I think also when I sell the car, if its to an enthusiast they will be able to see my OCD nature when it comes to my car. I overbuild everything when I deal with my car because I like driving hard and having the peace of mind that my car is overbuilt to handle more stress than I could put on it gives me the peace of mind that I love having.
Ohh yeah I forget I would also need a LSD (if the poi-traction that comes with the NRH tranny isnt that great.) and 300zx brakes with cobra rotors.
BTW this is all far in the future probably about 2-4 years in the future

what i want to someday do is figure out how to make the rear suspension fully independent that would be great. Why? why did nissan go from independent to "semi" which is in fact solid axle and now back to independent?

.If you have someone else do the work you surely won't be able to sell the parts....
If I had 15k to drop into a car....oh man....
That old cherry red Nova would be pretty ***king sweet.
IMO Nos isn't more reliable than a turbo.
You'll shoot your eye out.
