Rebuilt Transmission questions

Hi. I am looking at a 2000 SE 5spd, and one of the things that the owner mentioned is that has a rebuilt transmission (within the past year). How much should this worry me? Also, what questions should I ask him about it, cause I have no idea how rebuilding transmissions work.

Also, amazingly he hasn't had his ignition coils or MAF replaced...what is the chance that they will fail on me (the car has 112k miles)

Thanks

My car is like the same as yours. Original owner never replaced coils or MAF, he did a spark plug change and he also replaced the passenger side hub. I'm still using the stock clutch too.

Tranny wise, he musta really screwed it up.

Just bought a 2000 had a transmission replaced under warranty @ 31,000 miles...No biggie to me seeing as how they had problems with VB and shifting, I wouldn't think to much about it..If he looks like he may have abused it, I would think twice.---BTW, A "rebuilt" tranny can mean many different things...Some people have no knowledge of how a tranny works so they consider a new VB or clutch pack or band or servo a "rebuild"....If you go in and replace a cam in an engine is that a "rebuild"? Ask him what went bad in the tranny. That will give you a much better idea of what happened and who's fault it was.
