Engine Cover

Would it be safe to take off the engine cover? It should slightly help with engine cooling because the heat can escape and if I put some engine dress up in there maybe I can make it look good. Any harmful effects from taking the cover off? Any opinions?

No adverse effects. Wait till I go pick up my emblem and have a finished product, and I'll do something like this for you if you'd like.

If I can ever find time to finish it, it'd be great to offer. Hopefully I'll have it done by next week.

I've had mine off for almost 2 years with no adverse affects, and yes, you can do some polishing on some things under there.......

The cover doesn't retain enough heat to worry about. The cooling systems on the VQ are legendary. You have to run out of coolant completely and go driving around in stop and go traffic to overheat.... unless, of course, you have a couple of mods. If your car is close to stock, there's no reason to remove the cover.

The chrome was chipping away a little and had what looked like tiny water spots on it, so I just wanted a new one. For 24 bucks it was worth it. Plus when you remove it to paint, the adhesive on the back is not really any good anymore.
