Just got a custom B pipe, lost the resonator, really happy with it. Getting a y-pipe soon. Anybody notice a decrease in low-end torque with this combo?

back to the topic at hand, if you stick with 2.5" exhaust piping, you should not lose any low-end. If you go with 3" and are still NA, then you may feel a little difference.

Unless you get some monkeys to blow some cold air into your car. would that be considered forced induction

YO Deac!

I just went to a muffler shop and told them to cut the stock pipe right after the bracket after the main cat, and right before the muffler bracket, and weld 2.5" pipe in it's place. This way I keep the brackets and can easily remove this custom b-pipe if I want to replace it with a Courtesy Nissan pipe when they come out with one in a year or so. Since the resonator was removed, the exaust is a little louder and if I ever get tired of it, I'm hoping the Courtesy pipe will come with the resonator/silencer like the 4th gens.
It took them about half an hour to do the job and they only charged me $68 bucks! It's not stainlees, nor mandrel bent, but it is a hell of a lot better than the stock b performance-wise and the price was alright!

YJ - I think a SC would work better than monkeys - and you'd save money on diapers....

Thanx for the info man...I just bought the Random Tech Catalytic Converter and I have a Cal-Spec Cattman y-pipe. I was kind of confused about this whole 2.5' pipe vs. the 3.0' pipe...whats the difference? The guy at Random Tech told me that since the only thing I've changed on my exhaust is the y-pipe, then I need the 3.0" Catalytic converter....so I guess this means then that if I get the B-Pipe made, I have to get the 3.0" one right? I dunno?!?! I guess so if the Random Tech guys say I need a 3.0' one.

stick with the 2.5" unless you go NOS or Supercharger. There's no need for the 3" with just the normal bolt on mods that you have.

yes, low end will be slightly less but nothing earth shattering. when you go from a smaller diameter pipe to a larger, you increase the exhaust gas velocity (flow) at mid and high engine speeds but by doing so you also slightly decrease the exhaust gas velocity at lower rpm.

the exhaust gases at lower engine speeds flow out faster through smaller diameter piping, but, this smaller piping is a restriction when more flow is needed (mid & high engine speed).

to put it in reality: a smaller diameter garden hose will flow more water out than a larger diameter garden hose when the demand is low, but, if you want to put out a house fire you'll need more water. the smaller diameter hose won't flow enough at the higher demand, thus, a larger diameter hose is needed. this is why the fire trucks have big water hoses (to flow more). if they had smaller water hoses, the flow would be less.

got it?
