I did it, one of my first mods after tint and system. I didn't notice much as far as horsepower, but with WOT it sounds mean. My friends really liked the way it sounds too. Pretty ez to do too.

from my understanding i did it with a coat hanger as well... but i hear its better to use the existing bracket and "hack it" all they did was cut a piece off so air can gett in... same concept as the hanger... but the bracket holds the filter better...

The edges have been cleaned up since this picture. I have both the hacked/ported airbox. As far as gains, not really sure since I haven't dynoed my own car with and without this mod. My powerband might have shifted a little if anything. Butt dyno tells me nothing, there's an apparent slight growl coming from the engine bay. I however acheived my lowend back vs the injen intake.

^ you can also notice that my snorkel has been removed. Not sure how long this setup will last, might switch it up to something else to see if it makes any difference.

I did it. No night and day difference that I can tell. Its worth doing though if your even thinking about an intake. Its free, takes 30 min to an hour of your time, and you can go back and forth whenever you want. I keep my regular filter holder in my trunk incase I ever need to switch.
