Turn on your ac. Compressor engages = no leak.

The compressor will not engage without a good amount of refrigerant present in the system.

Sounds to me like its your expansion valve. The expansion valve releases compressed refrigerant into the evaporator core when it senses that the evaporator core needs to be colder. The expansion of the compressed refrigerant makes it cold, reducing the temperature of the core. If there is a leak in your system it will not be getting cold. Hope this helps!

No that means you wont burn out your compressor when there is no refigerant and even the AC is on in climate control ??
