I'm not exactly sure with the max conversion but my friend did a swap in a 2k1 celica. He had to buy the trans., manual axles, manual ecu, manual gauge cluster, manual flywheel and new clutch kit (throwout bearing and pilot bearing). So that is a start try searching www.car-part.com

It has been done, (for your car it would have to be the 5sp), but IIRC it costs quite a bit in both parts and labor. You'd be better off just selling the automatic and buying a manual....less trouble and less cost.

Space bar don't work?

Btw, if you need to starve yourself in order to mod the car, I think you either need to get a job or rethink your priorities.

4GEN people have converted our cars from auto to 5spd. Some people have done it for 1000 some over 3000 as far as I see it.

siren001, its possible but not rational cost-wise. Trade your auto for a manual - considering that automatics are more desirable by delerships and easier to sell you'll spend little to no money when trading to a manual Maxima similar to yours.

this is funny because all you guys have no prior experience.

yes you can convert. yes it has been done. yes people are doing. yes there was another thread just about this not too long ago. yes you can find the parts on car-part.com. price wise it can be cheap done for the same price as a 5spd swap on a 4th gen. the thing that i dont understand is when this question gets asked in the 4th gen forum, the responses are different. here i nthe 5th gen the response is sell your car and buy a 5spd. well what if a person cant afford another car? what if he looses money by selling his current max and buying another one? unless you guys got alot of money to blow on selling your car and buying another one feel free. that is why people that do this swap on a 5th gen keep their mounth shut. and siren001, you would get better responses by asking people like tilley or me or maxs because they have done this swap and not posting a thread about it becasue it ends up being like the last one and the responses dont even help.

The truth is unless you're going to do all the work yourself it will cost you less to trade in your car and "upgrade" to a manual. Autos have a higher trade in value, minimizing the loss even more. Even if you end up spending a $1000 or so for the trade in there is no way a shop will convert your car parts + labor for that kind of money.

the reason i was lookin into it i still get 2 1/2 years on my loan. i know i voided most of the 100k bumper 2 bumper warrenty already with my mods.

So i wanted to price out a manual conversion.

I was expecting to pay 6-8g's

What would i need to get?

Here is an example of one that was done recently, and it's still sitting on the front page (as of this post) within about a dozen spots from your post:

You can do a swap for around 2K if you do the swap part yourself,if you take it to a shop....be prepared to spend around 3K or more.
