Stock headlights might be a little to big. The mini H3 is the size of the stock H3 bulbs. My regular H3 bulbs were a little smaller then stock.

I put the oem D2R bulb on my fogs. You have to put the fogs in the oven and open em up to remove the shield if not the bulb won't fit with the shield.

WTH are you talking about fitting D2R bulbs in foglight assemblies? There's not enough housing clearance even with a capsule. 5/5.5 gen fog assemblies IIRC have always used H3/Mini-H3 bulbs (non-hid/hid)

Do you have to get a kit to put HIDs in the fog light assembly? I want to get rid of my ooglie yellowish light. Do I just need to replace the bulb with the H3 bulb ya'll are talking about?

Yes you have to get the kit. If you don't want to spend the money but still want to replace the yellowish bulb, you can replace with PIAA or Sylvania H3 bulbs.

Holy Keebler Elf...that's some bright fogs. What I commented on was that from reading the .org posts is that no one (except you) shoved a D2R bulb for fogs (I could be wrong) Securing it with "lots of tape" doesn't seem....safe. Does the tape really do a good job of keeping the bulb from rattling inside the housing? Any condensation coming in? How's the lenses holding up from the heat?

ANY HID kit that is H3 or mini-H3 will work. Both the Helios and Prolumen kit are made in the same factory supposedly, and both have a lifetime warranty. Unless you get 4,300K they will NOT match your low beams.

yea my mistake...i knew they wont match the factory ones...does it look bad with the factory HID's? i plan on upgrading the low beam HID's but not until i have to..i had the PIAA GT-X fog lights in and they burned out in like 3 months so i just want to upgrade to the HID's now.

standard h3s had cheap ebay 8000k kit, ballast went bad, so i got a 6000k ultinza(spl) kit.

after having the 8000k for few months i removed the shield. i just switched to the 6000ks about amonth ago. huge difference in light output between the two.

also if uve never installed anything hid, or fogs, i found it easier to removee the head lights and do most of the work from above the car. theres a screw to undo fromt he bottom of the 00/01s thats harder to get to, i not sure about the 02/03s, either way its easier to mount the ballasts and aim the fogs from above. i found this the easist way of the many times ive removed my fogs to do it.

The "lots of tape" is just for now cuz i plan on getting the 3000k bulb soon. but im not sure ive been discoraged cuz they showe a slight hint of white so i will prolly do the lexus style capsules and just go back to my Piaa xtreme whites. Im not sure im still deciding. I have no problems with condensation which is pretty unusual i guess and i don think it rattles that much cuz i put like half a roll of masking tape and another almost half a roll of duct tape LOL. About the mini h3 and the h3 aren't the bulbs the same size or is there a Large H3 and a Mini H3 cuz i haven't heard of that
