i'm curious about mufflers and am hesitant to pay the premium on a stillen unless it offers solid benefits to others.
i was considering the hks, tho i don't know the price, and then i saw the naxos and weapon-r makes mentioned in the parts section.
any experience with these? any good?
what kind of a sound do they make?
also, is that hks muffler a bolt on? what kind of power are we talking about?
lots of questions, i know.

HKS is a bolt on I believe but it'll run ya as much as the Stillen...
I don't know how the Weapon R or Naxo will sound....
I did a custom catback earlier today for $400... Went with a Hayame muffler, 2.5in mandrel bent piping & resonator.. Sounds awesome.. It's not loud like those cheap fart machines..
The best part is it looks identical to the Stillen except that it's bigger...
I was gonna go with the Apex Dunk but it wasn't in stock... Oh well!!!
If you are thinking about changing just the muffler, don't... Our stock mufflers are well proven to help performance.. You'll lose some HPs if you change just the muffler.. Go with a catback!!!

Hey...

What makes up a catback exhaust system? I already have a Cattman Cali-Spec Y-pipe...I've heard a bunch of people say positive thing about the catback exhaust. What does it consist of? Check my sig...what else would I need to get? $400 is not too bad becaus eit sounds like its worth it. I heard that for the cost of any of the other mufflers, you'll only get about 4-6 extra HP and the sound is louder than we would like. If someone can tell me about the catback system, I'll see if its really worth while!

Well?!?! What makes up a catback? does the type of piping you use for your custom catback job matter? If it does what is the best type? Holla!!!

Re: What makes up a Cat-back exhaust?
check the faq, that's where i read about them.

here's my understanding of it. the exhaust goes from the engine -> y pipe -> catalytic converter -> b pipe -> exhaust

a catback system replaces everything behind the catalytic converter, or back of the cat. so it would be b-pipe and exhaust.
you can get a stillen one which they sell separately as the b-pipe and the exhaust.

i don't have one so i'm not sure. but that's what i've read anyhow.

Re: RBA...
I bought the muffler from Eastern & went to RJ custom exhausts in college pt.. Their work is good but the price is kinda steep!!!
And I don't want to comment about Eastern b/c sometimes they are ok & sometimes they're not!!!

BTW...I want to dyno my car!! Will a regular shop do this?

Stillen doesn't make a B-pipe for the 5thgen yet... Infact, no one makes catbacks for the 5th gen.. You'll havev to go custom!!!!!
